Kongsfjord
Kongsfjord
You can find good numbers of Common Scoter, Long-tailed Duck and Common Eider in this area. Kongsfjord is a great place to get close views of Black Guillemots. The road between Gednje and Kongsfjord takes you trough the beautiful Kongsfjord Valley, which is often full of birdlife. Birds of prey like White-tailed Eagles, Rough-legged Buzzards and Gyrafalcon can be seen there. Perched on the edge, the cliff hide at Kongsfjord, designed by Biotope, provides a spectacular panoramic view over the rugged northern coastline. We recommend staying at the Kongsfjord Guesthouse in Veindes village. It is ranked on Trip Advisor as the best guesthouse in all of northern Norway! They have great food too.
The drive from Veidnes to Berlevåg takes you through a scenic landscape of sharp cliffs and numerous bays. It provides good places to look for Ring Ouzel in summer. The bushes often hold Arctic Redpolls.
